Description
Triptych space is project influenced by the context of Saint Paul's university and the sites spiritual values. Rich in history, nature, and community, the project aims to meet the current and future needs of the University. The space is intended to add to the contexts dialog by focusing on the three main axes, produced by the site's relationship to Main street, Rideau Canal and River, and the Oblates - each space representing a different function. This project sets to solve multiple problems surrounding circulation, convocation space, and loss of greenery due to new developments. Furthermore, it aims to conserve and respect the original buildings character defining elements while addressing environmental actions.

Conceptual Design

Conceptual design, 3D Model + Renders
Description
In class we were asked to model an 'invisible follie' within Rhino which represented our journey to class. I chose to focus the design of my project around time and my line of sight, both vertically and horizontally. As for its function, I designed the structure into a walkway with bamboo piping that will eventually have plants such as ivy growing on it. Creating an idea similar to a "tunnel of love" while acting as an escape from the city and a connection back to nature. Additionally, I proposed that the glass encasement would light up in a rainbow fashion during the night, to create a social hub for tourist and visitors during quieter hours.

Tiny House
Type
New Build
Location
Ottawa, Ontario
Phase
Conceptual design, Plans, 3D Model + Renders
Description
For this design I focused on creating a sustainable housing unit with a maximum livable space of 400 square feet. After the completion of multiple modelling tests, the tradition L shape was chosen as this tested to be the most beneficial massing strategy to meet my desired needs. Further more the roof was specifically designed at a 45 degree angle to help optimize both the integrated solar panels as well as natural daylighting and cross ventilation. Additionally, to lower the buildings embodied energy, recycled denim was the chosen insulator.

Music School
Type
New Build
Location
Liverpool, UK
Phase
Conceptual design, Plans, 3D Model + Renders
Description
During my semester abroad, I was asked to design a local music school, that fit the 'companies' desired deliverables such as the inclusion of a performance space and class rooms. While meeting the expected deliverables, I wanted to focus on a sustainable design practice. Making sure to include recycled aggregates, native vegetation, and optimized natural daylighting. Additionally, I wanted to create a space that not only focused on music, but also the inclusion of the external members. Which would increase community involvement and create a sense of community which the neighborhood currently lacks.

Description
Transitional Heights is a densification project that focuses on creating a transition space between the current low density, low rise neighborhood and the purposed high-rise plans for the future. Located near a future E-train route and a large park, I wanted to create a vibrant connection between the two. Encouraging people to experience the site during their travels creating a social hub for both residents and non-residents.

Description
As part of our historic site recording and documentation course, my group was designed to Saint Mary's church in Ottawa. Here we were held responsible for organizing interviews with the site custodian and archive heads, as part of our initial research and documentation of the building. Upon completion through both online and human resources, we began conducting a solid background of the buildings history and started gathering both interior and exterior condition information. Completing a full condition assessment for the buildings current state.

Rehabilitation/ Addition
Location
Magee House, Ottawa, Ontario
Phase
Conceptual design, Plans, 3D Model + Renders
Description
The Project is a reinvention and addition of the historic Magee House in Ottawa. Currently abandoned after the collapse of its west wall in 2018, the Project looks to bring life back into the dynamic and ever changing building. Rich history, the Project intents to extend the life of building by transforming the space into an art gallery and artist workspace with an architecture firm on the top two floors. Drawing the vibrant art community of the neighborhood into the building, while meshing it with the architecture scene to create a space intended for innovation, culture, and inspiration.
